Bivouac camping is the traditional Bedouin way of staying in the Wadi Rum Desert. The Bedouins, by history and their traditions, are a nomadic people. That being said, there are many natural shelters “hidden” throughout the desert. For the most part, these are areas of cliffs that have been naturally sculpted to provide shelter from, wind, rain and sun, and will become your temporary home.

Important Details:

• No electricity
• No shower
• No toilet (You must go in the desert)
• Blankets and a modest mattress are provided
• Bedouin tea and drinking water is always available
• Food will be prepared over fire in the Bedouin way

COMING

Coming from Amman:  

• Taxi – Most expensive way to arrive. Average cost is around 100 JD. The trip to Wadi Rum is around 4 hours.
• JETT (Jourdan Express Tourist Transportation) bus – A modern and comfortable bus that is reliable and not costly (around 10 JD per person). The bus leaves to Aqaba multiple times a day from their office.

Coming from Aqaba:

• Bus – The bus leaves between 1 and 3 pm every day except Friday. It is a local bus and runs on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to arrive on time or early to ensure a place. The cost is 3 JD.
• Taxi – Taxis are the easiest and most comfortable way to arrive. The average cost is 25 JD.

Coming from Petra:

• Bus – from Wadi Musa leaves between 6 and 630 am daily, and arrives at 9 am in Wadi Rum. The price of a ticket is between 8 and 10 JD. Booking you seat in advance is required.
• Taxi – The average price is 40 JD.

LEAVING

Leaving to Aqaba:

• Bus – To travel to Aqaba by bus, you must first take the bus to Petra, which will leave Wadi Rum around 9am. However, you will not take the bus all the way to Petra — make sure to get off at the highway junction. This will cost 3 JD. From the highway junction, you will take another bus that will bring you to Aqaba for the price of 2 JD.
• Taxi – Average price 20 JD.

Leaving to Petra:

• Bus – The bus to Petra leaves between 9 and 930, daily, and cost no more than 10 JD. The journey takes 2 hours.
• Taxi – Average price is 40 JD.

Leaving to Amman:

• Bus – To take the bus to Amman, you must first arrive in either Aqaba or Petra (see above). If leaving from Petra, the only bus (JETT) departs in the late afternoon. and costs 10 JD. If leaving from Aqaba, again the JETT bus is the way back at a price of 8 to 10 JD.

Taxi – A taxi will cost around 1

• If arriving in the evening, you will go directly to the camp to spend the night. The tour will begin the next morning.
• All of the tours that we offer include an overnight stay in our established Bedouin camp
• Toilets and showers (with hot water) are available in a separate tent
  • Toilet paper is provided
  • We offer a tent with a private bathroom and shower for 15 JD extra per person
• In each tent (which house 2 to 4 people, depending on need) there is:
  • Electricity
  • Beds, blankets, and pillows
• A Bedouin style buffet is provided by our kitchen in our communal tent
