The Um ad Dami desert tour.
Day – Wadi Rum jeep tour
In the morning
On arrival you are invited to Ahmed’s house in the village of Rum for Bedouin tea. A short jeep ride brings us to the natural spring called Lawrence spring. You scramble up to the spring to enjoy the spectacular views across Wadi Rum desert. We continue our drive and head to Khazali canyon. Here you see ancient inscriptions and a waterhole. Our next stop is at a red sand dune. You can enjoy climbing barefoot up and down this magnificent sand dune. Another short drive brings us to the big rock wall called Anfishiyyeh. This rock wall is famous for its ancient inscriptions. The last site we visit in the morning is Lawrence’s house.
Midday BBQ (barbeque)
We drive to a nice, quiet and shady place where we take a few hours break. Here we will prepare a traditional Bedouin barbeque chicken meal for you. After we finish our lunch, there is time to take a rest or walk around to explore the area on your own
In the afternoon
We start the afternoon with a beautiful drive to the Mushroom Rock. We make a short stop to enjoy the views before continuing to Um Fruth rock bridge. Here you can climb up to the bridge and enjoy the views of this part of Wadi Rum desert. We will then drive to the surprisingly green and narrow Abu Khashaba canyon. You can walk through the canyon in about half an hour. We will be waiting to pick you up on the other side. We will then head to Um Sabatah to watch the sun set and visit the natural rock bridge of Burdah.
Overnight stay ‘sleeping under the stars’ (bivouac camping)
We end our day tour at a ‘cave’ to stay overnight. We cook you a traditional Bedouin dinner. The evening can be spent around the fire. We can tell you about Bedouin culture and music, or you can gaze into the starry night sky and enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert.
Day – – morning hiking and scrambling Jabal Um ad Dami and afternoon jeep tour
In the morning
You can wake up to the rising sun and we will prepare your breakfast for you. Afterwards, we break camp and drive through the beautiful desert to Jabal Um ad Dami. We hike up to the summit of Jabal Um Ad Dami. At 1,854 meters above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Jordan. Spending time on the mountain gives us the opportunity to see the mountain’s rich wildlife; foxes, rabbits and gazelles are all spotted here frequently. On a clear day the views from the summit are spectacular with the desert of Wadi Rum strecthing before you to the south. To the north, you can see the Saudi Arabian desert, and to the east the Red Sea’s blue waters. After taking our time to enjoy the views we descend back to the jeep.
We drive to another nice, quiet and shady place where we take a few hours break. We prepare a Bedouin meal for you. After we finish our lunch, there is time to take a rest or walk around to explore the area on your own.
In the afternoon
In the afternoon you go on another jeep tour to visit some more of the areas’ most beautiful places or you can request a camel tour (not included in the price). Please let us know your preference in advance.
Late in the afternoon, we head back to Rum village. We arrive here around 3 PM. From here you can continue your journey. Of course, we can help you to arrange transportation to your next destination.
